After months of hard work, we are excited to bring some good news to you all - the Inverness Historical Society has secured a new home for the Inverness Miners Museum. While we will be opening at a date that is to be determined, 15932 Central Avenue will be the new location of the Inverness Miners Museum beginning mid-summer.

Discover decades’ worth of Inverness mining history.

No need to book in advance, come and experience Inverness’ stories and historic figures up-close and personal; informative tours, century-old artifacts, maps, photographs and so much more.

A Repurposed Railway Station.

The Inverness Miners Museum is proud to call the decommissioned Canadian National Railway Station (1901) home since 1977. A building with a unique character, it is one of the few remaining structures left of the coal mining era in Inverness.

Film Screenings

Relax and watch The Broken Ground, which tells the story of coal mining in Inverness. Showings last approximately 74 minutes. This film is a great entry point for those new to the area or beginning their interest in Inverness coal-mining history.

Travelling to Inverness

Your journey to Inverness will be scenic, with lots of sightseeing opportunities and local shops to stop at along the way. There is ample and free parking at the museum; we neighbour the Trans-Canada trails, which are accessible by bike.
