Statement on Behalf of the Board Regarding the Future of the Inverness Miners Museum

Dear Invernessers,

The past months have been a time of change for the Inverness Miners Museum. Leaving our home of nearly 50 years has been difficult for us, and we know many within our community feel the same way. However, this process has also presented us with an opportunity to make a transition towards the future.

After months of hard work, we are excited to bring some good news to you all - the Inverness Historical Society has secured a new home for the Inverness Miners Museum. While we will be opening at a date that is to be determined, 15932 Central Avenue will be the new location of the Inverness Miners Museum beginning mid-summer. Our board has made this decision following lengthy and determined efforts by our team to find a suitable new site.

Ultimately, the Inverness Miners Museum could no longer operate in the railway station due to the rapidly deteriorating condition of the building. This is an unfortunate reality that we have attempted to deal with as best as we possibly can.

Despite this being a time of change - two things remain the same. First, we are as committed as ever to our mandate of preserving, protecting, and maintaining Inverness’ local history for generations to come. Second, and more importantly, we can not do this alone. In order for the Miners Museum to continue to exist, community support is required. We humbly ask that you consider donating to the Miners Museum via our E-Transfer (museuminverness@gmail.com), if you are able.

Thank you all so much for supporting the Inverness Historical Society, and we look forward to seeing you at the new location as soon as possible!

Most sincerley,

Ben MacKay
